Brownsea Island: Stepping Through Time
About
Brownsea Island: Stepping Through Time is an MA Public History Project, produced by Eliza Bichard from Royal Holloway, University of London, completed in 2019.

Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, Dorset, has a long and fascinating history spanning over 1000 years.
Unfortunately, little survives from the Island's past, as a result of eviction of residents, fire and war. To explore what remains, I have produced this website, alongside History Guides for all the family, to accompany a wander around the island.
The History Section of this site shows what is left from Brownsea's past without having to visit, and the History guides are designed to accompany a visit to the island.
The History Guides are now available to download from this website. During the summer of my Masters, I was on the Brownsea Island in the Visitors Centre between Saturday 3rd August and Sunday 18th August 2019, giving out the guides. While I am now unable to provide hard copies of the History Guides for people, please feel free to download them yourselves!

Please let me know what you think of both the website and the guides by filling in my Feedback Survey in the tab above. Enjoy!
